The idea for this piece stemmed from thinking about forms of regality. I was thinking about a strong symbol or emblem that stands for order and acts as a foundation and guideline for the rest of the system to behave. With this in mind I started to think of a simple but strong shape, something that would look good vectored onto a badge or emblem and would serve as the pieces regal core. From this I surrendered into the submissive role and tried to let the shank form itself in a way, trying to stay harmonious and inline with what had now become the conceptual and literal head of the ring. What followed was a play between trying to maintain the stern angles and edges and not letting the inevitable curves take complete control. Traces of the shape of the head can be seen throughout the shank, as the regal rules regulate the space and the central power trickles down.
