This piece was made whilst researching the romantic sublime. I found the dramatic landscape paintings of that time depicting erupting volcanoes, craters and thunderous scenes of terrifying, awesome nature, particularly captivating. The colour palette of blacks, greys, dark cherries, dirty apricots and earthen browns featured in the works of that period, lure you into a world of escapable fear and set the tone wonderfully.
This piece was made by blowing the overall vessel then spot heating the already thin top and inhaling. Resulting in a soft fluid rim and bulging crispy and cracked, cling film thin interior.
